 "노무현 죽인 것은 지식인의 글"
"파시스트들이 원래 거대한 건축공사 즐겨"
한완상 전 대한적십자사 총재, <르몽드 디플로마티크> 통해 '해바라기 지식인' 비판
"착잡하다. 지식인이 글로 죽였다. 나도 서울대 교수에 TK 출신으로 기득권층에 속한다. 학벌과 지역주의로 강고하게 결합한 기득권 세력이 리버럴 정치인을 소외시키고 소멸시킨 게 아닌가?"
한완상 전 대한적십자사 총재가 <르몽드 디플로마티크> 최근호를 통해 노무현 전 대통령 서거의 본질은 기득권 세력의 집단 따돌림이라면서 "지식인이 글로 죽였다"는 말로 이른바 '해바라기 지식인'들의 책임을 정면으로 제기했다.
"황석영 작품에 담겨 있던 참지식인 인식, 한꺼번에 증발"
먼저 한 전 총재는 "학벌과 지역주의로 강고하게 결합한 기득권 세력이 리버럴 정치인을 소외시키고 소멸시킨 것 아니냐"면서 "분단세력과 수구 언론 권력이 그의 재임 기간에도 끊임없이 괴롭혔고 퇴임 이후엔 조직적으로 괴롭혔다"는 말로 '집단 따돌림' 주체를 분명히 밝혔다.
한 전 총재는 "특정인을 지목해 언급하기는 곤란하다"면서도 '해바라기 지식인'에 대한 강도 높은 비판을 이어갔다. 특히 "아무개 명예교수에게는 지식인이란 단어를 붙이는 자체가 사치스러울 정도"라면서 "노 전 대통령의 죽음을 읽어내는 방식을 보면 과연 그가 체계적인 역사인식을 갖고 박정희 군사독재에 저항했던 것인지 의심스럽다"고 매섭게 비판했다.
최근 황석영 작가의 발언에 대한 의견도 잇따랐다. 한 전 총재는 "민중과 함께 하는 참지식인의 모습이 담겨 있던 그의 작품은 아름다웠다"면서 "그런데 그 아름다운 인식이 한꺼번에 증발해버렸다"고 안타까워했다. 또 "작품이 작가에 의해 배신당하지 않길 바란다"고 뼈 있는 주문도 빼놓지 않았다.
한 전 총재는 "지식인은 자신의 계급 이해를 반영하는 게 아니라 다른 계급의 편에 서서 지배 계급의 이데올로기를 날카롭게 비판해야 한다"면서 "부도덕한 정부일수록 정의나 성장 따위의 화려한 레토릭이 발달하는 만큼, 그 수사 뒤에 있는 허위의식을 폭로하는 게 지식인의 사명"이라고 강조했다.

한 전 총재는 이명박 정부에 대해 '나치'를 거론하며 강하게 비판했다. 그는 "노무현 정부가 실패하면 파시즘이 온다고 경고했는데, 1년이 지난 상황에서 보면 예상이 적중되는 것 아니냐는 불안을 떨치기 어렵다"면서 "중도 실용정부라는 기치는 허상임이 확실해졌다"고 진단했다.
이어 "성급한 업적주의에 매달리다 보니 '토목공사 정부'로 가고 있다. 나치나 파시스트들이 원래 거대한 건축공사를 즐긴다"고 했다. '비즈니스 프렌들리'란 용어에 대해서는 "그 자체가 파시즘적"이라며 "권력이 재벌의 금권력과 밀착해 국정을 함께 운영하겠다는 것 아닌가"라고 반문했다.
그 때문에 한 전 총재는 지식인과 '줄씨알' 연대의 중요성을 강조했다. 그는 "줄 안(온라인)에서 자유롭게 접속하고 소통하고 공론화하며 학자나 전문가 못지 않은 미네르바 같은 유기적 지식인들이 줄씨알"이라면서 "지식인이 줄씨알과 연대해 지식을 지혜로 재창조해야 한다"고 주장했다.
한 전 총재는 "이와 같은 연대를 가장 두려워하는 세력이 21세기 파시스트 권력"이라면서 "노무현 전 대통령 죽음에서 나타나듯 우아하게 지기로 결심할 때 진짜 이기며, 그의 유서 내용은 그를 욕했던 많은 사람들까지 울렸다. 줄씨알도 언어 사용이 세련됐으면 한다"는 주문을 덧붙였다.
